Shortly after delivery to the USAF, this Thunderchief was deployed to Korea where it went on nuclear alert. By 1967, it was based in Thailand to fly combat in Vietnam. One of the last active F-105s, the fighter was retired in 1983. It continued service as a ground trainer at Lackland AFB, TX. It was transferred to the Museum of Aviation in the summer of 2011.
