Soon after Hughes Tool Company's aircraft division signed the contract to build OH-6As for the US Army in 1966, development of a civil version began. To be marketed as the Hughes 500, the first model made available was the 369HS, which was basically an OH-6A (minus military fittings) with a civil interior. Built in 1968 this second 369HS was delivered to Montreal based Helisolair as CF-DWI after the type received FAA certification in January 1969. Later registrations were N90958, N2Y and RP-C4902.
