Shooting Star J-342 today sits safe and sound under the roof of the Sala de Reactores (jet hangar), but in 1997 it was still sun bathing. It was formally taken on charge on 19 August 1958 by Grupo 7, went on to Grupo 12 and was withdrawn from use in 1973. After spending some time as gate guard at El Bosque it was displayed at the inaugural FIDA (now FIDAE) held at El Bosque in 1980 celebrating FACh's 50th birthday. It moved to Los Cerillos in the mid-eighties. This photo is copyright © Erwin van Dijkman, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
