Replica of the Deperdussin T flown by Paraguayan aviation pioneer Silvo Pettirossi after whom the national airport of Asuncion has been named. Pettirossi, who held the rank of Lt. of the Paraguayan Army, had a single-seat Deperdussin built which was equipped with a 60 HP Gnome rotary engine. It was a high-wing monoplane tensioned with steel cables, with a wooden structure fuselage, like the wings, with fabric covering. Pettirossi died, aged 29, in an accident with this plane on 17 October 1916. This photo is copyright © Wim Sonneveld, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
