Seen in its final livery, this ill-fated DC-9 was destroyed on April 4, 1977 in an attempted unpowered emergency landing on a highway near New Hope, Georgia. It had flown through thunderstorm so intense that the rain and hail broke the windshield, and the engines ingested so much rain and hail that they were both damaged and failed.
