Only extant Pfeil (Arrow) restored by Dornier in 1975 on display at NASM. This is the second pre-production Do-335A that was ferried by test pilot Hans-Werner Lerche from Luftwaffe Test Centre Rechlin to the Dornier factory at Oberpfaffenhofen. Taking off in the evening of 20 April 1945, Lerche had to land at Prague due to fuel shortage. He delivered the Pfeil on 23 April, whereafter it was captured by the Allies and shipped to the USA for testing. Powered by two 1,750 ps DB603A-2 engines, the 763 km/h Do-335 was the fastest piston engine aircraft in production under the Jägernotprogramm.
