The days of the Canadian Air Force Caribous were numbered by 1970. 5303 was the first CC-108 delivered August 8, 1960. As the prototype Caribou, it first flew as CF-KTK-X on July 30, 1958 before delivery to the RCAF. Loaned back to DHC in 1961 and modified with turbo-prop engines for DHC-5 Buffalo development, it was returned to piston power before re-delivery in 1964. Replaced by CC-115 Buffalos delivered in 1970, the Caribous were retired, this one was SOC June 15, 1971. To the Tanzanian Air Force (JW9011), it was later registered 5H-AAC. Sold as N1016N in 1979, it was later scrapped. This photo is copyright © Gary Vincent, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
