"Kate" 302 arrives from Rabaul as part of the surrender of Japanese forces in the South-West Pacific. The Japanese had requested permission to surrender their remaining airworthy aircraft to an Allied air arm and Jacquinot Bay was the nearest Allied air base. 302 remained there deteriorating until about 1982 when it was dismantled and stored. It found its way to the Pacific Aviation Museum in Honolulu in 2014 via Australia and New Zealand Photo from: Air Force Museum of New Zealand This photo was added on 29 September 2024, and has since been viewed 300 times. |
