Delivered to JBG37 at Drewitz in January 1980. The MiG was handed over to the Luftwaffe as 20+44 on 3 October 1990. It was eventually withdrawn from use at Drewitz in February 1991 and was preserved at the Automobil museum Fichtelberg from September 1995.
