The Försvarsmakten (Swedish defense forces) bought 22 Vertol 107s in 1963 for both the Flygvapnet (designated HKP 4A) and Marinen (4B and 4C).This particular 4B served at Berga and was mainly used for submarine hunting, minesweeping and various rescue missions. It was manufactured in 1959 as a prototype and came to Sweden in 1970 as a replacement and, as a result, has square windows on each side rather than all other HKP 4s with round windows. This helicopter rescued survivors from the Estonia ferry disaster and was handed over to the Flygvapenmuseum in 2011 after serving for 40 years. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
