Försvarsmakten (The Swdish Armed Forces) procurement was looking for an anti-tank helicopter during the 1980s and finally selected the MBB Bo 105-CB-3, which then received the designation HKP 9 and was integrated into the Svenska Armén. This HKP 9 was delivered in 1987 and based at AF 1 Boden and then at AF 2 Malmslätt outside Linköping. For two years it was also stationed at the US base Camp Bondsteel in Kosovo.
