The design was first instigated in 1988 as an agricultural aircraft suitable for coping with strong crosswinds. The project was abandoned in 1991 but resurrected in 1998 with the first test flights being flown from Borovaya as EW-067LL in 2004. Limited further development took place but the aircraft was eventually put into storage at Baranovichi before returning to Borovaya in 2015.
