The visit to Australia of 55-0033 aroused considerable attention. The RAAF had ordered 12 C-130As in 1957 marking a major step up in the RAAF's transport capability. It had been using Douglas Dakotas plus a few Bristol 170s supplied by the British government specifically to support the Woomera rocket range.
