Originally built in 1977 as N454BN for Braniff it was bought by FedEx in April 1990, re-registered N478FE and converted as a freighter. When retired by FedEx in August 2007 its was donated to the Lake Area Technical College, Watertown, South Dakota, for use as ground instructional airframe.
