Taken on strength in 1968 as an SH-3D and served HS-5 (NAS Norfolk/USS Independence), HS-7 (NAS Quonset Point/USS Wasp) before conversion to SH-3H around 1972. Then operated by HS-11 (NAS Quonset Point), HS-1 (NAS Jacksonville) and HC-16 (NAS Pensacola). Joined the museum in 1992 and was initially painted in these old colours as BuNo 148990, although that was later replaced by the correct serial This photo is copyright © Richard Vandervord, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
