The Saab B 18 twin-engine bomber and reconnaissance aircraft flew for the first time in 1942. In total, Saab delivered 244 examples to the Flygvapnet but, unfortunately, after retirement in the late 1950s no aircraft were marked for preservation. This example was salvaged from the port of Härnösand, where it sank in 1946 after an emergency landing on the ice. After more than thirty years at the bottom of the sea, the aircraft arrived in Linköping in the early 1980s for restoration by the Östergötland Aviation History Society and so is now the only survivor of the type.
