This C-47 was built in Long Beach for the USAAF as 42-32877 and during WWII became a veteran of Operation Overlord. It was sold to Sweden post-war and became SE-APW with Svensk Interkontinental Lufttrafik (SILA), the national carrier at the time, which was shortly thereafter merged with its Danish and Norwegian counterparts to form SAS. The plane was deregistered in May 1949 and flew with the Flygvapnet as a Tp 79 until 1983. It is now on display outside the Karlsborg Fortress. This photo is copyright © Alastair T.
