Delivered new to Braniff International as N456BN in May 1978, it served until the airline went into liquidation in May 1982. After a period of storage it was leased by Braniff Inc., the successor to Braniff International, in March 1984, but repossessed in January 1990 and sold to Federal Express in October 1990, re-registered N480FE and converted to a freighter. It served with FedEx until withdrawn from use at Victorville in 2013 where it was eventually scrapped.
