The maiden flight of Haukka I was March 17th, 1927. The Finnish Air Force ordered two enhanched prototypes (VL D 27 Haukka II) from the State Aircraft Factory. Later HA-39. The Finnish Air Force used I.V.L. D 26 Haukka I until February 21st, 1931. HA-39 is a prototype. The aircraft is conserved and on display at Päijät-Hämeen Ilmailumuseo / Päijänne-Tavastia Aviation Museum.
