The maiden flight of Haukka I was March 17th, 1927. The Finnish Air Force ordered two enhanched prototypes (VL D 27 Haukka II) from the State Aircraft Factory. The Finnish Air Force used I.V.L. D 26 Haukka I until February 21st, 1931. HA-39 is a prototype. The aircraft is conserved. [Nikon D750 + Tamron SP 24-70mm/2,8G VC]

The Finnish Air Force ordered two enhanced prototypes of I.V.L. D 26 Haukka I. The first prototype of VL D 27 Haukka II (HA-40) took air on March 1st, 1928. The comparison to the British Gloster Gamecock II proved both aircraft quite equivalent. However, the Finnish Air Force ordered a pattern aircraft and licence to build 15 Gamecocks on March 28th, 1928. The second prototype of the VL D 27 Haukka II took air on August 8th, 1928.
