Photo taken shortly after its first flight, this shows the original modified wire-braced fuselage taken from the Clarke Cheetah, G-AAJK. The Martin Monoplane was built by Luton Aircraft at Denham, Harold Best-Devereux is in the cockpit, Ronald D Telfer to the left and Leonard Carter's head is just visible - obscured by the headrest. It was built for Richard A Hopkinson utilising the fuselage and wings of the Cheetah. Following a forced landing a few days after this photo a new plywood-covered fuselage was manufactured - tailored to the owner's 6ft 6ins frame.
