Manned variant of the Fi 103, better known as the V-1, intended for suicide attacks. There was talk of a slight chance of bailing out while diving at the target, but even the odds of clearing the jet intake were thought to be minimal. Code-named Reichenberg after the annexed Czech town of Liberec, the Fi 103R scheme was aborted as many German senior officers didn't believe in suicide missions. However, some 175 examples were built and this one is apparently real. This photo is copyright © Peter de Jong, and may not be used or published in any way without permission.
