The first of 200 CF-104 Starfighter supersonic strike-reconnaissance aircraft for the RCAF was rolled out on schedule March 27, 1961, at Canadair Limited. The first production model, and the second aircraft which will be completed in May, will be transferred to Burbank, California, for checking and flight-testing by Lockheed Aircraft Corp., the plane's designers. The third and all subsequent aircraft are to be test-flown at Canadair, starting in June, and first deliveries to the RCAF are due in the Fall. DND photo.

F/f 16th Nov 1992 and delivered as D-BOBS to Hamburg Airlines 4th Dec 1992. Returned to lessor (GPA) as EI-CIS 8th Oct 1993, then leased to Time Air as C-FTUY 21st Dec 1994. Registered LN-WFA 14th March 1995 on lease to Wideroe and returned to Canada as C-FSOU 24th Jan 2008, operating for Jazz. Transferred to Voyageur Airways 8th Sep 2021 and to Summit Air 22nd Sep 2023

F/f 14th Feb 1983 and delivered to Egyptair as SU-GAA 11th Apr 1983. To Japan Air System as JA8369 12th Sep 1990 and officially merged into Japan Airlines Apr 2004 but the aircraft remained in JAS livery with large JAL sticker. Sold to Tiger Aircraft Trading as N143RF 18th May 2006 and registered EK-30039 3rd Aug 2006 for lease to Mahan Air. Transferred to the Iraqi Government as YI-APX 27th Oct 2007. It was damaged beyond repair after being hit by a rocket at Baghdad Airport on the 28th Jan 2022

At a time when four engine aircraft were still relatively rare, the Heron was well received by flight crews and by passengers who appreciated the additional safety when operating into more remote locations. Some 150 were built and exported to around 30 countries. Later, a number of Herons were fitted with 290 hp (216 kW) Lycoming IO-540 flat-six piston engines.The modifications were carried out by the Riley Turbostream Corporation of the USA and so became known as the Riley Heron. Due to clutter it was difficult to get a nice side on shot but this view shows the flat engine conversion nicely.

Last B-36 built. Delivered in 1954. Retired and preserved at Amon Carter Field, later Greater Southwest Airport, Fort Worth, Texas in 1959. Moved to the Southwest Aerospace Museum in the late 70s. Remained at Carswell after the museum closed in 1992. Moved to the Pima Air and Space Museum, Tucson, AZ in 2005.

Delivered as as F-89D. Converted to an F-89J. Was preserved at Waco-James Connally AFB, TX before coming to the Southwest Aerospace Museum which closed in 1992. May have gone to the Selfridge Military Air Museum, Selfridge ANGB, MI and disposed of due to its poor condition.
