Sunday at Fairford...thick grey skies... I abandoned any thoughts of photographing the flying display and went instead around the static.

Turning onto the runway to depart from RIAT 2012

Seen as it turns onto the runway, with the threshold markings reflected in the fuselage, this was one of two similar aircraft present the same day.

USAF 79-0442 first flight 18-Dec-1980, to Luxembourg AF/NATO LX-N90442 delivered 22-Jan-1982. It has a special colour scheme to commemorate 50 years of NATO, and below the cockpit it carries the NAEWF badge. It was a long wait at the end of the Open Day before it could be photographed without people in front, as the aircraft was parked right at the gate, and was also used as a walk-through exhibit.

Fifty shades of grey - that's about as colourful as it gets in modern military aviation.
