Taxiing for runway 31 departure. Date not logged at the time, estimate for 1987 given. Not sure of exact type, doubt if it's a Guardrail, Joe Baugher has this aircraft in 2009 was mounted on a pole at Gray AAF, Fort Hood, Kileen, TX.

This is suggested to be c/n 201 or 415, but neither is correct. C/n 201 is a DHC-8-102 (short fuselage), and there are significant differences when compared with photos of N599XQ c/n 415 online. Missing are various aerials on the top and bottom of the fuselage, 2 small cameras embedded within the port fuselage at front and rear, plus the trailing edge of the wings are missing the additions on N599XQ. 50201 instead has an extra attachment at the base of the tail, has 2 embedded rear cameras in different positions, is missing the ribbing in front of the rear door and has a large bulge underneath the fuselage. One can assume the large pod is removable but existing photos of N599XQ (without pod) do not show the attachment points for it.

This Huey was built as a UH-1D and TOC by the US Army in February 1967 but from August to October it underwent conversion to a UH-1H. From April 1968 until February 1971 it was stationed in Vietnam, after which it was on loan to the University of Michigan, flew as an air ambulance in West Germany and went on loan to NASA, flew as part of the Panama Canal protection force but by 1986 had been transferred to the Illinois ANG before retirement. It is pictured here as part of the Yankee Museum's Vietnam exhibit but was later restored to airworthy status and in September 2019 registered to Northwest Helicopters as N876GM. It was one of two Huey's that YAM traded in for a UH-1 66-1126/N240GH in airworthy condition.

Converted from OV-1C in May 1975. Withdrawn from service in September 1996 and scrapped in South Korea where it had been serving with the 3rd Military Intelligence Battalion.

Retired to MASDC at Davis Monthan in 1962 and to the museum at Pima in 1972.

To N5377G with the Civil Air Patrol, Maxwell, Alabama in January 1978, sold in Canada as C-GNJS in 1980 and returned to the US register in 1984 as N5381U operating in Alaska. Still believed active in 2021.

Not a very common type and nicely preserved

Bell OH-58A 68-16830 was upgraded to an OH-58C. With a more powerful engine, the early OH-58Cs also had flat windscreen panels. It was to reduce reflections on the battlefield that may give away it's position, the flat panels were found it restricted forward vision compared to the standard curved windscreen. This aircraft is on the US civil aviation registry as N76KP to Northwest Helicopters but is displayed unmarked.
