Delivered new to United Airlines in 1968(N8055U). End '84 converted to freighter and sold to Trans Sahel Airlines (5N-AWZ).In August '87 over to African International. In 2004 re-registered ZS-PAE. In 2006 stored at Johannesburg.

This DC-8 was e regular visitor to Amsterdam during the 1990s.

DC-8 visits are very rare nowadays at Prestwick and this 36 year old one was here to uplift a large shipment of Musical Instruments to Helsinki, this was it landing on Runway 31 at 12-35pm. (D60 ISO 100 1/750th @ F6.7)

PIK isn't the busiest of airports and has more than its fair share of Ryanair 738s... but it often gets great movements, occasionally even with sunshine too! This beautiful, old DC-8 is pictured about to set down on rw31. Note also the prototype J-61 fuselage in the background.

MDC delivered this DC-8 to Alitalia in 1970, as I-DIWW. It was withdrawn from use in 1981 and sold as N39305 two years later. In 1988 it entered the MGM Grand Air fleet, and became N802MG in 1990. Kalitta acquired it in 1996 and converted it to a freighter. Transferred to Kitty Hawk in 1999, and then sold to African International in early 2002. With them it initially flew as 3D-AIA, but was soon reregistered to ZS-OSI, as seen here. Finally, in 2009 it went to Stars Away and was permanently withdrawn from use in 2012. In early 2015 this beauty was broken up at Manston, UK.

N8046U first flight 22-Dec-1965, delivered 12-Jan-1966 (United), to N46UA registered Aug-1986 (Trans International), to 3D-AFR registered May-1990 (African International), to 9Q-CTA registered May-2006 (SALFlyCargo), by Nov-2012 stored at Kinshasa and scrapped Mar-2013. It is compass swinging here. Note the small Alitalia titles on the nose.
