Basic Kitty Hawk cheatline

K64 slide scan. Built 1970 as I-DIWW for Alitalia. Pacific East/Sea and Sun N39305 1981, MGM Grand Air N801MG 1988, American International 1995 after freighter conversion. Operated by Champion Air and Kitty Hawk, African International 3D-AIA, later ZS-OSI 2002. Stars Away 2009, scrapped Manston 2015.

MDC delivered this DC-8 to Alitalia in 1970, as I-DIWW. It was withdrawn from use in 1981 and sold as N39305 two years later. In 1988 it entered the MGM Grand Air fleet, and became N802MG in 1990. Kalitta acquired it in 1996 and converted it to a freighter. Transferred to Kitty Hawk in 1999, and then sold to African International in early 2002. With them it initially flew as 3D-AIA, but was soon reregistered to ZS-OSI, as seen here. Finally, in 2009 it went to Stars Away and was permanently withdrawn from use in 2012. In early 2015 this beauty was broken up at Manston, UK.

Magnificent machine pulling off Brize's runway 26 - not too many DC-8s were allowed in the UK by this time but this one was a good airframe by all accounts. Started life as Alitalia's I-DIWW and later N802MG with MGM Grand Air. Stored at Manston and sadly never made it out before the airport closed, then being broken up
