In 1995 Siai Marchetti displayed the S-211A teaming with Agusta and Grumman to participate to the the JPATS selection. The Pilatus PC-9 turboprop was selected to be produced in the USA as the Raytheon T-6 Texan, but the S-211A scored anyway the first position within the jet trainers participants.
