This Vietnam war veteran was delivered to USAF as 54-576 and later to South Vietnam AF until 1973. It finaly completed its operational life within Royal Thai Air Force in December 1995. This aircraft was also used in the movie "Operation Dumbo drop."

Delivered to the USAF as 55-4558 and converted to C-123J with Fairchild J44 booster engines on the wing tips, for operation in the arctics. To the CAA/FAA in May 1957 as N123, reregd to N98 in 1973. Withdrawn from use in 1983, and donated to the Alaska Historical and Transportation Museum near Palmer, AK in the mid 1980s. Officially registered as N3144W, but never painted as such. In 1992 the museum became the Museum of Alaska Transportation and Industry (MATI) and moved to its current location at Wasilla Airport, taking this C-123 with them. Although not visible in this photo, it still has its C-123J wing tip booster engines.

Previous identity 54-0580 with USAF/AFRes, sold to TBM Inc. for civil use after a short 5-month stay at MASDC in 1982.

Uses the last 4 digits of its former USAF serial as its Coast Guard identity.

U.S.Coast Guard Providers were not uncommon in the late 60s at Gatwick, although the big Navy base at Naples ,Italy was several hours flying away for them.

An obscure career for this Provider. Ex USAF 54-695, became N8190B / DOS-03 with the US Department of State in 1989. Served with the Peru Police for a while in the early 1990s as PNP-022, then returned to the DoS as N8190B. Spent some time at the Minnesota Air National Guard Museum at Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN, before being acquired by Hawkins & Powers in 2000. In 2007 it was sold to the Mid America Transportation & Aviation Museum and flown from Greybull to Sioux Gateway Airport, Sioux City, IA on delivery on 15 Aug 2007.

This Provider waddled across the ramp to the long term ramp where the North Terminal now is, giving me this shot with the BALAIR Coronado in the background.

This aircraft faintly shows its civil registration on the fin. Ex USAF 54-0610. Presumably due for a repaint in full USAF markings.
