Old slide of somewhat disappointing quality, but interesting nevertheless. CP Air was a very frequent visitor at Amsterdam for many years. In 1981 they still operated their DC-8s into Schiphol, but they would soon change that to their similarly coloured DC-10's. CF-CPP "Empress of Alberta" is seen here in their striking orange colour scheme, shortly after touchdown on runway 19R.

Nostalgia on final for runway 01R… During the mid 1980s Hawaiian Air briefly operated a service into Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport. It was always flown by this aircraft, which was their only DC-8-63. It was leased only two months before this shot was made (ex Iberia/Aviaco EC-BQS), and operated for ten years, until sold to Airborne Express as N822AX in 1994 and converted to a freighter. By 2003 it had been withdrawn from use.

Coming off the line for SAS as "Ring Viking" in 9.68 and going to Thai as HS-TGZ in 3.74, this DC-8 became OY-SBM for Sterling in 7.84 but found her way back to SAS under two years later. The original registration was restored when Scanair took her over in 9.87. Converted to freighter in 4.89 and sold to Aer Turas as EI-CGO. Scrapped as 9G-NHA at Lagos early 2013

This aircraft was subsequently converted to a 63(F) and later a 73(F)

Flown by Iberia from 12.70 and passed to Aviaco in 4.81, before disposal to IAL for Arrow as N940JW in 12.83. Leased by Quebecair (C-GQBA) in 5.84 and Nationair from 9.86, going to Airborne Express in 1.92 as a freighter. Wfu in 12.06 at Lake Charles, LA for scrapping

Another former KLM Super 8, the former PH-DEH, acquired by Icelandair in 3.85 and used for Transatlantic services till 5.90. Ended up being placed into storage at Wilmington, OH, after operation by Airborne Express (N818AX) in 11.03 and subsequently scrapped

Acquired by Quebecair from Arrow Air in 5.84, the former EC-BSE of Iberia ended up with Airborne Express as N820AX, eventually being scrapped at Lake Charles-Chennault, LA
