The Brazilian capital Brasilia has its fair share of old military aircraft on display at various locations. The Clube da Aeronautica is the place where this Xavante can be found.

Out of many, many Xavantes available after retirement of the type, 4462 was chosen to be saved and displayed in the MUSAL in Rio de Janeiro.

On display on the military side of Brasilia airport is AT-26 Xavante 4507, with C-95 Bandeirante 2190 behind it.

The Parque Ecológico in Americana, Sao Paulo state, is the location where this former Brazilian air force Xavante is displayed.

One of many aircraft on display at the air force academy at Pirassununga, Xavante 4598 was found in excellent condition. The type is dubbed AT-26 in the Brazilian air force designation system as can be read on the tail.

Based on Aermacchi's proven MB.326 design, in 1970 Embraer acquired licence rights to build the AT-26 in Brazil to supersede the T-33 in the training role and also to provide offensive capability. They eventually produced a total of 182 EMB-326s - 167 for the FAB, nine for Paraguay and six for Togo. The Xavante name was in honour of the pre-Columbian native Brazilian warrior tribe. Interestingly two other AT-26s are preserved in Brazil, falsely marked as 4462.

Based at Natal since 2002, 1°/4° GAv 'Pacau' moved to Manaus in November 2010 and became the last operational unit to fly the AT-26 Xavante. Following the move to Manaus the unit converted to the F-5EM.
