This Hart was delivered to 2 Flying Training School Digby during Nov. 1935 with cn 4621 (subsequently changed to 6513 and then 6653). Transferred during June 1938 to No.24 Maintenance Unit Ternhill, Salop and later allocated the serial 1764M. By virtue of the fact that she had been withdrawn from front-line training at the outbreak of WWII meant that she kept her yellow scheme instead of being painted into camouflage markings.

Although wearing Finnish contemporary markings - which had nothing to do with the Nazis - it was actually a Swedish air force unit which fought the Russians from Kemi in northern Finland during the final two months of the 1939-40 Winter War. It had twelve Gladiator fighters and four Hart light bombers with open cockpits. Swedish Harts were all powered by Mercury radial engines. Note the skis carried for use by the crew in an emergency. This airframe did not actualy serve in Finland.
