Destroyed a mid air collision with PA38 ZK-EVA which ran into the back of EQM while trying to join formation. EQM spun in killing the two onboard. The student pilot in ZK-EVA was also killed but the instructor was able to the land the damaged aircraft at Palmerston North. He was charged and convicted of three counts of manslaughter.
