The Octave Chanute Aerospace Museum closed in 2015 and former exhibits that were not passed to other museums were sold at a government auction at Rantoul in September 2017, the fate of this aircraft is unknown but it is believed to have been scrapped.

This C-47 was built as a C-47B-16-DK at Oklahoma City and TOC with the USAF in December 1944. It was converted twice, firstly in September 1954 to a C-47D and then around 1956 an executive interior was fitted to make it a VC-47D. In July 1971 it was transferred to the Chanute Air Force Base Training Center at Rantoul and used as an instructional airframe. It joined this museum in 1993 but was offered for sale as scrap in September 2017, two years after the museum closed.

Originally built as a C-47B and converted into VC-47D in September 1954. The Chanute Aerospace Museum closed in 2015 and this a/c was one of several that were scrapped in 2019.
