The second B-52E produced, modified as NB-52E and used extensively in test programmes by the AFFTC. Withdrawn to MASDC at Davis Monthan and seen shortly after its arrival in June 1974. Resided for several years in 'Celebrity Row' before being scrapped in October 1993.

On celebrity row. Used by the AFFTC as a Control Configured Vehicle operated by the Air Force Flight Dynamics Laboratory to test ride comfort improvements during turbulent flight conditions. Stored at Davis-Monthan AFB in 1974 and scrapped in 1993.

The Control Configured Vehicle test NB-52E was fitted with three canard control surfaces (two horizontal and one ventral) which were linked to computers receiving flight data from sensors mounted throughout the aircraft monitoring turbulence, which fed back compensatory control inputs.
