Arriving (more than 24 hours late) from the US with 14x other F-105D and 3x F-105F from 465 TFS/507 TFG, for exercise Coronet Oriole. Now preserved near the Strategic Air and Space Museum and Offutt AFB, Nebraska.

Coronet Oriole deployment

This F-105 was built at Farmingdale, NY, and accepted by the USAF on January 1962, being assigned to the 355th Tactical Fighter Wing (Tactical Air Command) at George AFB, CA. During the conflict in SE Asia it was based in Thailand and is credited with the downing of a MiG-17 over North Vietnam. It was dropped from the inventory around March 1982 and is now on display at the side of the freeway, on the approach to the super Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum.
