This An12 was flown by research institutes in China, and as such was used in the development of the Chinese An12 model, the Y8. 1151 has now been at the museum for at least 25 years.

Delivered to the CAAC as 1151 in 1968. Used as a research aircraft. To the museum in 1998.

On the Greenham Tattoo arrivals day the aircraft would often shoot several approaches in a miniature display, traffic and fuel permitting.

The Cub is one of greatest, yet unsung, aeroplanes in the world of aviation. Whether operating from the crudest, African jungle strip or icy Siberian Waste, the An-12 can do the job. There have been losses but mostly this was because the 12 was operating under such severe conditions that Hercs (or equivalent) would long since have become unservicable. I love this plane!
