It wears a special color scheme which had been applied at Memmingen prior his final flight in 1987. Aircraft was later in use as instructional airframe at the Ausbildungwerkstatt (TsLW1) at Kaufbeuren since at lease 1997 till November 2019. That month it was transferred to the Ausbildungswerkstatt at Holzdorf.

This EC725R2 Caracal crashed in Burkina Faso during what was reported as a night-time training flight on 29 November 2014. The Caracal supported Operation Barkhane, the French mission against terrorism in the Sahel region.
