The 318th Fighter Interceptor Squadron was deactivated on 7 December 1989. The squadron flew at that time the F-15 Eagle. The units T-33As - in use as used as a proficiency trainer and practice "bogey" aircraft - were already phased out in 1988. The squadron was based at McChord AFB (WA), so it was a real fine surprise to see these lovely T-Birds thousands of miles from home during a small scale exercise at Tyndall (FL). This 58-0616 was retired to AMARC with inventory code TCC054, (later this became TC1354) on 5 February 1988.
