Following the first heavy rain shower (commonplace in the Farnborough area in September) this strange bird landed. I did not know what it was, except that it was obviously an Islander of some sort. It was described as 'Three Engined Islander in the Air Pic check list. The three-engined BN-2A Mk3 was not formally named 'Trislander' until January 1971.

This was the prototype Trislander, which had started life as the second Islander, then was converted to the prototype stretched Islander before the addition of the 3rd engine. Here dumped behind the B-N paint workshop about September 1971

This was the stretch version of the Islander which did not go into production, instead the airframe was converted to the first Trislander for Farnborough 1970 and by 1971 was laying broken up at Bembridge.
