Built in 1923 and powered by a 3HP engine. Acquired by the Shuttleworth Collection in September 1957. Allocated BAPC.11 by the British Aircraft Preservation Council in 1967. Current and an occasional flyer still in 2023.

For those that were there to witness it, the sight of the 1923 English Electric Wren G-EBNV not only taking off under its own power (a 3hp ABC 398 engine) but also flying to a decent height was truly amazing. The silence of the crowd was only interrupted by the noise of camera shutters and the occasional hint that the tiny engine was propelling it along. A truly stunning moment - to much applause as it landed.

Powered by a 3 hp engine, the Wren, which usually manages only short hops, carried out several complete circuits of the airfield and easily exceeded it's usual altitude of a few feet.

Powered by a 3hp engine , the Wren only flies in the calmest conditions. Usually only reaching a few feet off the ground, it is thought to have easily broken it's own record for altitude in this display.

Built in 1923 and powered by a 3HP engine the Wren will only fly in perfect conditions, short hops up and down the runway at a maximum height of a couple of metres. It was great to see !
