This is the prototype of the new Pilatus PC-7 MKX, an improved and modernised version of the PC-7 MkII trainer. The aircraft is officially registered as a PC-7 MkII, because the MKX is based on the MkII's type certificate.

This 2019 built PC-7 is the prototype and demonstrator for latest trainer Pilatus is offering to its customers as "Smart Basic Trainer" under the designation PC-7MKX. It was officialy unveiled during the Dubai Air Show in mid November 2021 and is powered by a new 700 SHP Pratt&Whitney X-PT6A-25C engine. The real improvment however lays in a new avionics concept, the heart of which are three modern main displays, containing a Mission-Debriefing system, among other features.
