An operational military fighter is a super rare sight at Eelde. Generally speaking, such aircraft aren't allowed to operate at the airport, except when it involves an emergency. With Leeuwarden Air Base closed for several months due to runway works, Eelde was suggested as alternate in case of emergency. Back in March 2023, J-055 was the first to make use of the possibilty. J-641 was our second guest in June 2023.

This Fokker built F-16A (construction number L-150) made its first flight on 13 September 1983 and was delivered to ther Koninklijke Luchtmacht on 03 October 1983. The aircraft was still serving the KLu in 2019.
