Early in the morning N808MC overshot the icy, slippy RW 23L, collided with the ILS equipment and engine no. 2 caught fire. The Jumbojet was damaged beyond repair and finally scrapped in April 2006.

This 747 was originally delivered to Singapore Airlines in February 1975 as 9V-SQD. In June 1983 it undewent freighter conversion and was leased to Cargolux as N747BC for a few months. It flew with Pan Am (N726PA) and Tower Air (N808MC) before joining Atlas Air in October 1993. It was written off at DUS in January 2005 after over-running the runway whilst landing in snowy conditions. The frame is pictured here prior to its eventual scrappage.
