EVCC: Everett Community College

Registered as G-AOVU before delivery to Mexicana as XA-NAR in 1960. Registered as N888WA in 1978. Diverted to Everett-Paine Field with a mechanical problem in 1979 and was grounded by the FAA. Used by Everett Community College until it was acquired by the Museum of Flight in 1994.

The front section of the Museum of Flight Comet is positioned inside the Restoration Centre. Fake colours, never actually flew with BOAC.

Ex XA-NAR of CMA. This aircraft was not operated by BOAC. Later transferred to the Museum of Flight.

I had photographed the Museum of Flight Restoration Center Comets cockpit four years before and thought it looked superb then. Now completely finished, however, it looks absolutely stunning

The finished (apart from some clocks) cockpit section looks truly magnificent and a testament to all those volunteer man-hours necessary to bring it back to such a pristine condition. Note the reg. plate (XA-NAR) visible in the centre of the control panel. This aircraft never actually flew with BOAC, rather will eventually be displayed in its true Mexicana markings at the Museum of Flight at BFI.

At this point owned by Redmond Air Inc, this is the ex-Mexicana Comet which the Everett Vocational College later painted in BOAC colours, although it never served with them. Now restored for the Museum of Flight, still in BOAC c/s
