Built as C-119G 53-8073 for the USAF it was later converted to a C-119L. After sitting unused for years at ANC, it is being readied for a move to Big Lake, Alaska.

Sitting "abandoned" is this former USAF Boxcar. Now owned by the local Alaska Aviation Museum, it seems to have been in storage since before 2009, and periodically gets moved around the airport. Hopefully they can get this one restored and put on display.

Former USAF 53-8073. Stored at Davis-Monthan AFB with park code CJ471 in 1975. Sold as N9027K in 1978. Used by a number of operators based at Anchorage, AK and eventually stored there. To the Alaska Aviation Museum in 2018.

This aircraft has been longtime airport resident and was moved to an isolated ramp at the south end of the airport a few years ago. It was once owned by Roger Brooks but is currently owned by the Alaska Aviation Museum. The aircraft is essentially complete and a look inside revealed a cabin full of "stuff." It was interesting to note that the door had a faded notice about the aircraft being sold at public auction.

In 1992 most C-82's and C-119's at Anchorage were sold to Hawkins and Powers and moved to their base at Greybull in Wyoming. A few C-119s stayed behind, but most of them later also departed to other airfields, such as Fairbanks or Palmer. This former Northern Pacific Transport N9027K (ex 53-8073) was the only one to remain behind at Anchorage, and it was still there by mid 2017.
