This former French Air Force Transall is wearing a commemorative livery, celebrating the final flight of the Transall in French Air Force-service. It's now part of the collection of Ailes Anciennes Toulouse. While they think on where to display it, either on the premises of Ailes itself or the Aeroscopia Museum, it's parked across the road of Ailes on an Airbus-tarmac, close to the fence. That way, visitors can still see it but photography is a bit trickier due to the fence.

Transall C-160R R212 (F-RAGL) of EEA01.054 'Dunkerque' (BA105 Évreux) has been painted in this splendid commemorative scheme for a farewell tour of 24 locations in France over 20 days, dropping parachutists at several places and ending at Orléans on 3rd April. Seen at Grenoble departing for the small GA airfield at Le Versoud near the downtown city. I'd been waiting there for it to arrive during a drive home from Italy when I learned it had landed at the main airport as originally planned, but had briefly gone tech. So back to GNB/LFLS... just in the nick of time!

With farewell colours! Transall started their operational duty within "Armée de l'Air" in 1967 and is about to be completed by the end of March 2022. Definitely, a page of history is being turned for the French Air Force!
