On final approach to Runway 31 at Prestwick from its RNAS Yeovilton base. Carrying Fleet Requirements and Aircraft Direction Unit (FRADU) code "871". Taken on charge new by the Royal Navy in 1958. Lost in a sadly fatal flying accident on 31 October 1984 when it struck the sea off the coast of Portland.

Just returned from a 90 minute sortie off of Southsea acting as a target. The aircraft was lost on 31st October 1984 along with the pilot, Ted Clowes, when the aircraft hit the sea off of Portland.
