September 2005 I finally managed to get a Yakovlev 40 flight ! Tried several times in different parts of the world, but got it on my first trip in Syria. I completely confused the ticket agent in downtown Aleppo, by purchasing a flight from Latakia to Damascus. He tried to explain me many times that the trip to Latakia over land would be almost as long as Aleppo to Damascus, and that Aleppo had an airport too. I remember paying about 8 Euro for my flight, and needed to pay the taxi driver 10 Euro to get from the Latakia Bus terminal to the airport.
