The Atlas Ace was an indigenous South African design conceived as a replacement for the SAAF's ageing NA Harvards. ACE stood for All Composite Evaluator. The SAAF selected the PC-7 in preference to the ACE and the sole flying prototype (pictured here) was written off in a landing accident in January 1995. A second, improved, prototype did not fly and the project was cancelled.
